Discovering Old, Adding New... A Creative Photo Journey

We visited my brother and his wife a week or so ago to help them a bit with renovations on their newly bought house.  It was one of those bank repo-type deals, so there was a lot of work to be done to get the home ready for them to move in.  In all honesty, we spent most of the weekend playing, hanging out, and eating, but I promise that a little bit of work actually happened in there somewhere.  Here's some random pics I took on that day on the home site.  I was inspired by the shapes, textures, and patterns that could be found anywhere, even in an old and ugly house under construction.

And then there was this guy so focused with his baby sized-roller brush...

Speaking of Patterns, Colors, and Shapes, I am super super psyched to start this ecourse with Alisa Burke this week!  I am hoping to learn some new techniques and get more ideas for how to incorporate unique fabric that I created into my art.  Haven't heard about it yet? Watch this intro video she made for it and you may not be able to resist the fun.

Let me know if you are taking this course too.  I'd love to connect and share photos!

An Ocean Moment

As you know, or may be learning right now, I just finished a week at the beach here in Florida with my family.  We stayed on the East Coast in the most wonderful little beach town of St. Augustine.  The ocean was magnificent and the family moments incredibly precious.  We laughed, swam, surfed, and shopped our way through an incredible family vacation.  Heres one of those moments...

Creative Inspiration and a Summer Sale!

Hi friends!  I am currently on a family vacation this week with my family and so the blog has been a bit quiet.  My family has enjoyed a longstanding tradition of gathering together each summer in a rented beachfront house on the Florida Coast and filling a week with sun, sand, and tons of silliness. I'll give you a few pics when we get back. Here's a bit of beautiful beachy art to enjoy until then.

I will be back to work on my art later this week, but I found myself with a rare few moments of quiet to myself today, and I thought I would share some fun and inspiration with you.

I have learned that I have to play music that inspires me anytime I am creating.  It helps me work better, find my creativity, pulls my thoughts away from all the things that I have to do or have done that day.  I definitely have phases of different music styles that I am digging on.  This month it has been all about indie-pop, soulful singers, and fun beats.  What do you listen to when you feel artsy these days?

Here are two gorgeous songs that have been frequenting my play list these days.  I hope you enjoy!!

OWL CITY - FIREFLIES (this is my ringtone I love it so much!! makes me incredibly happy)

INGRID MICHAELSON -MAYBE
