The Nearsighted Fox and The Fashion Forward Turtle.

Happy Saturday!  Time for a new coloring book challenge!  I hope you have your favorite coloring tools ready to play today, because I have two new coloring book pages to share with you.  The idea behind this activity is to just play.  Have fun and remember how much you loved coloring when you were a child.   Let your imagination go wild, color outside the lines, make a pink sky, color the trees purple! Create stories for the characters as you go along, and make them come alive.  Just click on the image and then save to your computer.  You can color digitally, like I did here in my examples, or print off to paint, draw, scribble all over.  Please keep to the honor code of using my images and not reproduce, alter, or use in anyway other than your own personal use.  Have Fun!
 Coloring Page #3

Coloring Book Page #4

If you missed the first 2 pages in the series, you can find them under my PRINT Tab at the top!  So here are my versions of this weeks color challenge.
This is Sally the Fox.  She is a shy little gal, and a bit nearsighted.  She needs to update her prescription on her spectacles, but keeps forgetting, and so will often bump into the trees as she takes her morning walks through the forest.  BUMP! Here come the leaves tumbling down on top of her.

This is Mortimer the turtle and his best friend Pickles.  Mortimer has a flair for fashion, and is a typical turtle, slowly taking his time to enjoy the sweet flowers along his path.  Pickles the song bird doesnt mind.  He loves his slow Saturday walks with Mortimer, just gives him lots of time to practice his singing along the way.

I'd love to hear your imaginative versions of the stories this week, feel free to post in the comments here and share links your colored pages here too!

Dont forget that I am having a big Sale in my Etsy Shop through Monday in celebration of the 3 day weekend and Back to School redecorating time.  Stop by HERE and check out my SALE section with lots of reduced prices on original works and artsy jewelry.  Then use code LABORDAY to get an additional 15% off everything.

I hope you have a wonderful colorful day!

Is It Pinteresting? My Latest Inpirations.

I recently got swept up into the Pinterest craze.  It's an easy one to get swept up into.  There are so many incredible photos that people are sharing there, that I can follow links for days discovering creative ideas, getting lots of inspiration, and finding new artists that I truly adore.  For those of you who havn't caught on yet, Pinterest is a virtual pinboard.  Almost like an etsy treasury or a Flickr Round-up but better, because you can organize your boards, keep adding for days, and any photo file on the web is fair game.  What I love the most is how each person's boards reflects glimpses into their passions, their hopes, and dreams, and their style, really you get a fun picture of who the person is (or who they would like to be).

I also REALLY love that you can easily find exactly where the original image came from.  As an artist whose art images are flying around the web going who knows where, I think this is a brilliant feature to respect the work of original creator/poster.  Pinterest is not for everyone, though.  My husband totally does not get it.  He barely uses facebook and so this new social networking idea has totally perplexed him.  Try explaining what a virtual pinboard is to someone who doesnt really use social networking interfaces and see how silly you sound.  So we have this joke between us now, whenever he sees me clicking away on the computer across the table during our morning coffee time, he asks me (with a bit of a smirk on his face, mind you) "What's Pinteresting Today, Hon?"  To which I reply, "Oh my goodness, you should see this incredible yarn bombed tree!" or "look at the rainbow made of coordinated crayons" or "this is the most adorable baby bunny I have ever seen!"

At which point, he looks at me like I am nuts, smiles affectionately at me and goes back to checking sports stats on his phone.  So perhaps my overly manly man isn't my audience for this new found love of Pinning amazing images, but I have a feeling I am preaching to the choir here.  Any Pinterest groupies here?  Let's have a Pinterest party today!  Here are some of the links from my boards that have me swooning and brimming with creative ideas.

As you can see, I am having a bit of an obsession with fiber arts and color.
What do you find Pinteresting?  I would LOVE IT if you could post links to your latest Pinterest favorite find in the comments here.  I want to see a bit of your passions and dreams.  Oh, and not to be totally self serving, but I would be honored if you ever wanted to "pin" any of my photos or artworks to your boards.  It's a great way to get more people to see my artwork.
Have a Pintastic Day Everyone!

Color Your Saturday! Free Coloring Pages for You.

Who loves to color?  Come on admit it, you never outgrow the joy of opening a new pack of crayons and filling in the shapes and lines of a coloring page.  It's downright therapeutic!  My son is constantly asking me to draw images for him of various things, and then we color in the pictures together creating a wild story of adventure for the character as we go along.  Honestly, I cant tell you how many times I find myself happily finishing the picture alone as my son's attention got distracted elsewhere, but I just can't stop my rhythm of soothing finger strokes filling the white page with happy colors.  Join us each Saturday with your own crayon pack!  I will be uploading two new coloring page creations each week for you to download, print off, and make them your own creation of color and imaginative adventure.  Just click on the image to see a full scale size and then copy and paste to your desktop.

*DISCLAIMER: I do ask that you honor and respect my work and only use these images for personal use.  This means if you decide to share the image on your own blog or site that you credit back to me, and not use the image or copy in any way for a product that you make and sell.  They are my gift to you, to brighten your weekend, so please use respectfully.

So let's get started.  Here are the first 2 coloring pages for you to play with this week.
I thought it would be fun jump start you with my own version of each story.  BTW: Digital coloring is seriously just as fun and therapeutic as a crayon box, and you have a million colors at your fingertips.  Its a great exercise in learning about color combinations.

So first up is Silly Simon the Blue Whale.  You see he is a Blue Whale that was born Yellow, but he really likes being different than all the other whales.  He also loves to get into mischief.  Cant you see that smirk on his face and twinkle in his eye.  He's up to something.

Next is the Fluffers Family.  They went sailing one Sunday morning when they caught a glimpse of a very rare yellow colored Blue Whale.  (Hmm, I wonder who that was?) They chased the large creature across the ocean trying to take it's picture, but then when they finally caught up, little Billy Fluffers got too excited and toppled into the waves.  The Whale swam off, and the Fluffers Family never got their picture that day.

I'd love for you to share your finished colored pages and stories in the comments of the post each week.  What adventure can you create for a very unique whale and a boat full of bunnies?  I cant wait to find out!  Have a colorful and restful Saturday.
