New prints just listed on Etsy...

Here are my two latest paintings... Inspired by my own process of feeling like I put on the "costumes" of other artists ideas and inspiration to find my own style and voice, and to remind myself to keep my Child Heart alive.

I Believe In Bunnies by Harmony 2010

Be Unexpected by Harmony 2010

I did both of these pretty much at the same time, putting one aside to dry while I work on the other and then back to the first one, etc.  They are done on canvas wrapped on a wood frame, measuring 8X10."  They both are mixed media, with a base layer of vintage book pages adhered to the canvas, with tinted gel medium over them creating a frame effect.  I layered washes of color to texture the background and hand drew and painted the figures.

I used acrylic paints, charcoal pencil, and india ink to create both the bunny girl and the bird.  The designs around the bunny girl are cut canvas, inked and painted, creating a 3D element to the picture, then lots of fun drips around her using black ink and white watered acrylic paint.  Then scrawled the word BELIEVE next to her in india ink with a Chinese paintbrush.

The bird uses many of the same techniques.  For the flowers around her, I cut shapes out of painted vintage papers and brown bags, and assembled together using crochet thread and finished off each one with highlight and shadows using distress ink and a Galaxy Marker.  The flowers pop right off the canvas and add a lovely texture contrast.  Then I stamped and hand painted the lettering Be Unexpected.

These paintings were a joy to create and I am so happy to share them with you!  I would love to know what you think of them.

The originals are also available for sale @ $45 each.  Message me if you are interested.
