Stumble into Inspiring Moments

I went to a local Fall Art Festival with my family this weekend.  The ONE I didnt get into.  It was really nice to just be there and not be working the show.  Overall the show was predictable.  I was really hoping to discover someone new, something really inspiring.  However, what I found was the same vendors that they have almost every year.  Very very talented people, but not new to me, same glassblowers, same pottery, same jewelers, same oil paintings featuring dogs in martini glasses (what is that about?).  Kettle Corn in same place, Root beer people in the same spot, Funnel cakes... well you get the idea.  But then, as we were getting truly bored with the same old same old, and started to leave, I saw pure childish delight.  It made me instantly happy....

Gorgeous large works, done with ink washes and gouache, prints done on washi paper, mounted on canvas, they were soft, innocent, beautiful, and made me feel happy to be standing in their space.  It was just what I was hoping for.  I cant believe she is a local artist to me!  I hope to meet her and have a real conversation about her art journey some day soon. (she was a bit too busy at the time). You can see more of Kana's work @ http://www.kanasarts.com

I hope you stumble upon something inspiring today... :)

  5. She is one of my favorite artists! You may get a chance to talk to her at one of the Friday night downtown art walks. Her studio is in the Truman building. :)
